As Hurricane Irma is approaching, we are prepped and hopefully ready for her strong winds and torrential rains. While we are holed up in the comfort of our home, I decided to do some quilling. As you might have read here, I received Ann Martin’s new book called “The Art of Quilling Paper Jewelry” and made the Loops and Leaves Necklace on the front cover. I loved the classy look of the metallic gold on black.
Tonight I wanted to try the Shooting Star Earrings. I bought some metallic silver on red in hopes of making something a little out of the ordinary in terms of color.

I took some pictures in process so you could see how it came together. Below, you can see I didn’t have dowel rods to wrap my strips around. Instead I used the glue top, ink pen barrel and my quilling tool barrel which were the perfect sizes.

Then I carefully pieced the Earrings together and pinned them in place to dry.

To finish off the earrings, I will add a jump ring and earring wire.
Ann’s directions are clear, concise, and very well laid out for a person of any level to achieve success. If you would like to get more informed or order her book, you can get it here.

I used this pattern as a practice – used plain red paper. But I like yours so much better. I am going to get me some metallic paper!

Yes, the metallic paper really sets the jewelry off beautifully! I would love to see yours 😊

Am in the process of lacquering them …. I think mine could use a coat of gloss as my paper has no shine at all. Will send the photo along once it’s done.
Ordered my set of metallic paper just now – can’t wait for it to arrive!!!

Can’t wait to See! Yay….I love my metallic paper so far. You have to give the layers ample time to dry. I didn’t, so my red ones ended up pretty rough looking.

Ah, that is good to know. Glueing is by far one of the trickiest bits to the process – am still figuring out how much glue is enough, and how to best attach pieces together. The books make it look so easy!
