Stained My Metal Garage Door (again)

Back in 2013, I had stained my garage door in Dark Walnut from Old Masters gel stain to dress up our home. Well time had passed and I knew I had to stain our fiberglass front door and garage door. The Florida sun is brutal and when your doors face the full sun, you eventually have to do something. Here is the before and after from the first time.

We’ve since painted our home and so this time I chose to stain it with a Red Mahogany from Old Masters to match our front door. Here is the door semi-before and after…

My advice is to use Old Masters stain gel and an angled soft fine bristle paint brush. Fill in the smaller crevices and outer areas for the square and then fill in the big block last, moving from one square to the next. I painted it straight on and did not rub off any excess. Always, always make sure that as you finish a section that you make sure the stain goes all the same direction with the faux grain of the door.
